Architectural diversity

Seven in one fell swoop

At the Schinkelplatz, in Berlin’s historic Mitte district, LUTZ Elevators successfully executed a very challenging major project

The building, which was divided into three construction phases, was designed by three different architects. So it goes without saying that the elevator designs also needed to reflect the architects’ diverse individual concepts. The results are highly varied designs that do full justice to all requirements in terms of functionality and technology.

Enter on a green light

Their functionality aside, these two car elevators are distinguished by their cabins in warm brown hues, a colour that is additionally accentuated by light beams from the ceiling spotlights. The hardwood panels installed as ram protection on the side walls also produce a naturally warm tone. The integrated positioning system, which is supported by traffic lights, ensures that vehicles can enter and exit the elevator safely and speedily.

Perforated sheeting as an eye-catcher

The dominating design feature on this elevator is the stainless steel perforated sheeting, which was used as panelling in the cabin and also to encase the shaft frame as well as the floor selectors and call buttons. This has created an interesting and attractive eye-catcher on each of the landings.

Clear structure of glass and steel

This elevator’s individual design, which seamlessly blends in with the overall structure of the building, is enhanced by the use of frosted glass in combination with a powder-coated steel construction. The stone flooring, which matches that used in the corridors, conveys a sense of spatial depth.
